Mumford & Sons: Babel

This is the kind of review that I get excited about writing before I even get a chance to write it. The long awaited, much anticipated second full-length album from Mumford & Sons is finally here! Sigh No More, the groups first released album in 2010, was widely acclaimed and gained nominations for several Grammys including Best New Artist and Best Rock Song (“Little Lion Man”). Since then, Mumford & Sons’ popularity has skyrocketed across the globe, and here we are in 2012 with what sounds to be another grammy contender.

Filled with the signature Mumford sound (particularly Marcus Mumford’s vocals), Babel bombards the listener with enough heavy brass, string plucking, and group choruses to give anyone their healthy daily dose of folk rock. Like Sigh No More before it, Babel is as lyrically strong or stronger than most albums put out today, which makes it more than worth your time to pick a copy up. Overall, a well polished, high quality production from a band that does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Check out a few of my favorites below and hear for yourself!
