We here at Not Some Kid always strive to try and give you access to all areas of the musical spectrum, interviewing people from all over the musical world. Perhaps the most unsung hero of the industry is the men and women that run the youtube promotion channels. We got chatting to one of them…

Started late in December of last year, TheSoundYouNeed is a youtube channel set on promoting the finest Chillwave, Deep House, Future Garage & Minimal on the web. Having already gained over 6 million views, and with a 50,000 strong subscriber base, we spoke to the charming Olivier Dutertre, who single handedly runs this incredible movement all the way from France.

JMSN: Love & Pain (Ta-ku Remix)

I have so much time for Ta-Ku. The dude is a genius, pouring emotion and stunning samples into everything he does. Applying the classic pause before any sort of drop is what fundamentally pulls me into any Ta-Ku song, but in this case it was the heart throbbing violin in the background, coupled with the stormy synths.

Datsik ft. Snak The Ripper: Machete (Synchronice Remix)

Fuckkkkkkkkking hell. Seriously, this is a heavy heavy heavy tune. Synchronise keep going from strength to strength, and is has been a delight watching the brothers creating magic. However, this is a completely new side of the duo, dirty, aggressive and proud. I have to say, I enjoy it.

The growling bass rips and screams through Snak’s vocals, creating a heavy intoxicating atmosphere, and then the drop literally tears away any sense of reality.

Nicky Romero vs Krewella: Legacy (Official Preview)

Possibly the biggest house tune of the Summer just got previewed yesterday. Ever since Cochella, the hype has been swelling for the collaboration between Nicky Romero and Krewella to drop. The stunning vocals of the Yousaf sisters combined with the brains of Rainman and Romero makes this easily my most anticipated house track this year.

The preview teases us with the rich voices of the girls, whilst the underlying melodies cause hairs to rise and clothes to drop. Good stuff indeed.

You know Summer is officially here when Bondax start releasing these kind of tunes. ‘No Diggity’ is huge on it’s own, receiving airplay all over, but add some funky sunshine filled vibes and an infectious groove, and you have a Bondax anthem.

Love this, and the fact that it is a free download literally made my week.

London Grammer has been a big name in the last few weeks, with the band featuring on the huge Disclosure EP ‘Settle’. Starslinger, an artist I have a lot of time for, decided to go ahead and remix one of their more emotive tunes, giving it a beautiful chilled spin. This is perfect mellow music, I really dig this.

Indie electro can cut straight to the core of anyone. All the violence in the world is so un-needed…Why does Syria not just invest in some speakers, and play some Wolf? Stupid world leaders…

Be ready to be taken on a journey of effortless vocals, aggressive drum riffs and synth work that’ll make your heart dance.

It is by now well known that both Bronze Whale & PRFFTT & Svyable are established producers, smashing out remixes and originals left right and center. When they decided to make a track together, the gods of Olympus must have smiled as they watched it come into being. Add to this mix the stunning vocals of Koda and you have a track that will woosh you away into a different place.

Mt Eden: Walking On Air EP

The pioneers of melodic dubstep, Mt Eden, just released their ‘Walking On Air’ EP. These guys were the sole reason I even got into dubstep of any sort, with their huge track Sierra Leone. The beautifully vocals laced over the deep harmonious bass captured everything that I wanted, needed, to hear, and I went on a huge search of their stuff, coming across many beautiful tracks along the way.

That was a few years back, and having recently let Sierra Leone out for purchase, the New Zealand duo go on to show their utter genius by putting together an orchestral cover of the song. It will blow your mind.

The rest of the EP is on par with this outstanding production. If ever there was an album that you need to own, this is it. Groundbreaking stuff.

Buy it on Beatport, Itunes and Juno
